What is mental wellbeing?

It’s our personal barometer about our levels of contentment, enjoyment, confidence, self-esteem, self-confidence and how we engage with the world around us. It’s about our relationships, our resilience and how much of an effort we are prepared to invest. The following are ways you can begin to enhance you mental wellbeing.

Connect

Connect with the people around you: your family, friends, colleagues and neighbours. Spend time developing these relationships.

Be active

Find an activity that you enjoy and make it a part of your life.

Keep learning

Learn a new skill, sign up for that cooking course, learn to play a musical instrument, or figure out how to fix your bike

Give to others

Even the smallest act can count, whether it’s a smile, a thank you, a kind word or a larger act, such as volunteering.

Be mindful

Be more aware of the present moment, including your thoughts and feelings, your body and the world around you.
